Fish Pedicure Treatment

Fish pedicure treatment is something I've known about for ages but finally took the plunge - so to speak! - and went to a local salon recently.

I'm lucky that my local beauty salon now has a fish pedicure spa as part of the business. On arrival, my feet were washed and towel dried - very embarrasssing as I'd gone straight from work and my feet were hot and sweaty and had sock marks!

I have to admit it I had a little shock when I first dipped my feet into the pedicure tank as the water was so cool. The next shock was that the fish swarmed to my feet straight away! The little creatures in question are called garra rufa fish and their unique qualities have been known about for many years. In Turkey for example the natural fish pedicure is a long established beauty treatment.

The fish nibble away at dead skin cells with a gentle action which leaves fresh healthy skin cells behind. The sensation is actually very nice and feels like 'pins and needles.'

I know there have been some health warnings about garra rufa fish treatments - generally relating to cross infection. If you go to a qulaity beauty salon with good hygiene standards I don't think this is anything to worry about. My feet were washed at the salon before and after the treatment and so I would have no concerns at my salon.

Prices for fish pedicure treatments vary but for me it was a little luxury and well worth it. My feet felt incredibly fresh and soft after just one session. If you are considering it I strongly suggest you find a local salon or treatment spa and give it a go!
